My Favorite Activity

Computers. Normally I like playing Command & Conquer (the newer ones, like Generals and Command & Conquer 3, but sometimes the older ones are fun too) but it is also sometimes fun playing other games like Starsiege, Empire Earth, and Age of Empires. Games can cut back on your sleep if you play them too long, which sleep is one of my mission statements. But there are also things that I do on my computer that are actually productive, such as Carrara 6, Bryce, and Hexagon 2.0 (all 3D object creation, and animation programs).

Fall Festival

The other night (Sabbath night) there was a Fall Festival at Mt. Aetna School. I went there and was hanging out with friends and people I don't normally hang around with like my little brother's friend. This helped me accomplish the goal in my Mission Statement of making more friends.

I said I was going to try to get more sleep, but....

In my mission statement one of the items I said that I was wanting to improve in was getting more sleep at night. Well, the other day I totally blew that one. I waited until Sunday to finish my Home-EC project of designing a room. I started at about 2:00 pm in the afternoon on Sunday. Yea, I ate supper and talked to my family and all... but that didn't take up a whole lot of time in the afternoon that I should have been working on my project. Now the reason that I waited until Sunday was because I thought to myself "Hey, two, three hours on the outside and I'll be done." But that is one of the biggest underestimates that I have ever made in my life. I FINALLY got to bed at around, hmm... probably about 4:00 AM Monday morning.
So I have a lot of improvement to do on getting more sleep at night. Getting over my "chronic -procrastinitis" (for those of you who heard the Adventures in Odyssey episode that Whit "diagnosed" a kid with that to help him stop procrastinating).

Singing With The Highlanders

Singing with the Highlanders helped me with two of the goals in my mission statement. One is helping me make more friends because it was sort of fun being with a bunch of people all day. The other is getting to know God more. We were singing praises to God which helps in learning more about God and also witnessing to the other people.

Bad Experience That Taught Me a Lesson

Last year on the class trip I rode Apollo's Chariot (see picture to right) one too many times. Now before I start, let me get a fact straight. I HAVE NEVER THROWN UP BECAUSE OF A ROLLER COASTER IN MY LIFE (before class trip at least). I mean yea I get a bit queasy after riding once or twice but had never thrown up afterward.

It started out a nice day for the parks, nice and sunny. Because I am a big fan of coasters, I joined up with the group that was going around to pretty much all the roller coasters in the park. We went around riding the roller coasters, and I sat out for one or two rides during the day because I was starting to feel sick. Everything was going fine until the evening... that's when we went back to Apollo's Chariot. Apollo's Chariot is a humpback roller coaster, in other words it goes up and down, up and down, up and down, and so on. They take pictures of you that you can purchase as you leave the exit of the ride, so we were trying to get a perfect picture of four of us wearing our class shirts, all with our hands up in the air. The problem was that Ryan (not the Ryan that currently goes to HVA) always had a terrified look on his face. We were wanting a picture of everybody grinning with our arms up in the air. We went on it, I forget how many times, but it was something like two or three times. But then I was really starting to feel sick. I was thinking to myself "Come on, you can make it once more." So we went. Ryan actually didn't look like he was completely terrorized that time. But when we came into the station I felt REALLY sick. Marci looked at me and said "Are you OK? You are really pale." I got off, got a drink and was trying not to think about throwing up. Then pastor Corea came along and asked me "Are you about to blow chunks?" I had never heard of it being referred to in such a funny way, so that got me thinking about throwing up and I about started laughing. Then I threw up.

After I got cleaned up and the park staff was notified, we came back and I bought the picture (see below). (Left to right - Marci, Malinda, Ryan, Me [Nathanael]).
That class trip I learned a couple lessons. 1: Never go on another roller coaster when you feel REALLY motion sick. 2: If you throw up, it will take a long time to live it down.
For the rest of the class trip, I was known as "Upchuck" by some of the kids. It even made 7th place for the 10 most memorable happenings of the school year.

Class Party

Yea, this is sort of a little late to be posting something about the class party.... but it was very fun. I REALLY had a lot of fun. Even the kids that were saying that they did not think it would be fun said that they really enjoyed it as well. I think it was a great success. It helped me with my goal of making new friends. In my opinion it should be earlier in the year, so that it could sort of be an ice breaker for the students.

Working on my goals

Last night I read the Bible before I went to bed. I read Matthew 1-2. This will help me reach my goal of getting a closer relationship with God because if I study the Bible, I get to know him more.

My Legacy

In the future when people look back in time and think about me, I would like them to think of me as:

  1. Being good with computers

  2. Being a kind person

  3. A good student

  4. A person that serves God

  5. A person that always tries his best

  6. A likable person

  7. A person that always handed homework in on time

  8. A person that aced almost all their tests and quizes

  9. A person that got straight A's

  10. The kind of student that is not disruptive in class
